ISLAMABAD: The National Registration Examination (NRE) scheduled for October 11 has been postponed, with the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) announcing a new date for the examination.
According to the PMDC, the NRE will now be conducted on November 8 instead of October 11. The council said the examination had been rescheduled due to unavoidable circumstances, although it did not provide further details about the nature of those circumstances.
The change in schedule means medical graduates who had planned to appear in the October 11 examination will now have additional time to prepare for the test. Candidates are expected to follow the revised schedule and make arrangements accordingly.
The NRE is a mandatory examination for medical graduates who complete their medical education from institutions outside Pakistan. Foreign-trained medical graduates are required to pass the examination as part of the regulatory requirements for registration and practice in the country.
The examination serves as an assessment of the knowledge and professional competence of foreign medical graduates before they can fulfil the requirements for medical practice in Pakistan. It is conducted under the regulatory framework of the PMDC.
The postponement is therefore expected to affect a large number of candidates who had been preparing for the October examination. Students who had arranged travel, accommodation or other plans around the earlier date will also need to take the revised schedule into account.
The PMDC has confirmed November 8 as the new date for the NRE. Candidates have been advised to keep track of official announcements from the council regarding the examination schedule, instructions and other relevant requirements.
The examination was originally scheduled for October 11, but following the latest decision, candidates will now appear in the NRE on November 8.
The council’s decision comes as foreign-trained medical graduates continue to complete the mandatory regulatory process required for recognition and registration in Pakistan. Further details regarding the examination arrangements, including any instructions for candidates, are expected to be communicated through the PMDC’s official channels.
