Pakistan alleges India-Taliban nexus to fuel attacks in Balochistan

ISLAMABAD: Pakistani intelligence officials have alleged that India and senior elements of Afghanistan’s Taliban administration are linked to a network supporting militant activity in Balochistan, with alleged coordination involving the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and Al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS).

The allegations are contained in an intelligence document reviewed by Pakistani media and cited by security officials. According to the document, meetings during 2025 and 2026 allegedly involved discussions over financing, logistical support and the movement of militant personnel for attacks inside Pakistan.

A report published by Geo News on September 19 said the document alleges that India’s external intelligence agency, RAW, provided more than $7.8 million for coordinated attacks, while Taliban-linked figures allegedly facilitated weapons, training and shelter from Afghan territory. The claims have not been independently verified.

The document reportedly identifies meetings held during May, July and August 2026 and alleges that representatives linked to different militant organisations discussed coordinated activities. It further claims that TTP and AQIS personnel were involved in attacks attributed publicly to BLA, although these allegations remain claims contained in the intelligence material rather than independently established facts.

The September violence in Balochistan has heightened security concerns. Pakistani authorities reported multiple militant attacks and counterterrorism operations across the province earlier this month. On September 4, the military said security forces had killed 48 militants in operations across Mastung, Quetta, Kalat and Sibi, describing those groups as Indian proxies and TTP-linked militants. Independent reporting has provided additional accounts of the violence but does not independently establish the broader intelligence allegations.

The intelligence material also reportedly cites the September 4 violence around Ziarat as an example of alleged coordination between militant factions. Pakistani sources claim that an attack publicly attributed to the BLA involved TTP-linked personnel, a claim that has not been independently verified.

Pakistan has repeatedly accused India of supporting militant groups operating against the country and has also accused Afghanistan of allowing Pakistani militants to operate from its territory. Afghan authorities have rejected allegations that their territory is being used to conduct attacks against neighbouring countries, while India has also denied similar accusations.

The latest allegations come amid continuing tensions between Islamabad and Kabul over cross-border militancy, particularly activity attributed to the TTP. Pakistan says militant networks operating from or through Afghanistan pose a security threat, while Afghan authorities have rejected accusations that they provide sanctuary for attacks against Pakistan.

Pakistani security officials say intelligence-sharing and counterterrorism investigations are continuing to identify and disrupt networks allegedly facilitating militant attacks in Balochistan and elsewhere.

For now, the alleged India-Taliban coordination remains a claim based primarily on intelligence material cited by Pakistani officials and media reports. Independent verification of the documents, the alleged financial transfers and the specific operational links has not been established publicly.
