Pakistan’s military said on Wednesday that security forces intercepted and destroyed four rudimentary drones allegedly launched from Afghanistan into Balochistan, warning of a strong response to any future cross-border provocations.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the drones crossed into Pakistani territory on June 30 and were detected immediately by the country’s air defence system. The military said all four aerial platforms were successfully neutralised using advanced countermeasures before they could pose a threat.
The ISPR accused the Afghan Taliban administration of supporting terrorist groups operating from Afghan territory and described the drone launches as a deliberate attempt to escalate tensions.
In its statement, the military said such actions were intended to divert the attention of the Afghan public from the challenges they face under the current regime. It urged the Afghan Taliban to stop backing terrorism and instead pursue peaceful coexistence with neighbouring countries.
The military also warned that any further attempts to violate Pakistan’s sovereignty would be met with a swift and decisive response under Operation Ghazab-lil-Haq.
Reaffirming its commitment to national security, the ISPR said the Pakistan Armed Forces remain fully prepared to defend the country’s borders and respond effectively to any threat against its territorial integrity or citizens.
