Pakistan, Egypt strengthen diplomatic coordination amid regional challenges

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Egypt have reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining close diplomatic engagement as both countries exchanged views on recent regional developments during a telephone conversation between Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar and Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty on Thursday.

According to Pakistan’s Foreign Office, the two leaders discussed the evolving situation in the region and emphasized the need for continued dialogue and constructive diplomacy to promote peace and stability. The conversation reflected a shared desire to encourage understanding among stakeholders and support efforts aimed at reducing tensions.

During the call, Foreign Minister Abdelatty acknowledged Pakistan’s ongoing role in facilitating dialogue and mediation initiatives. Both ministers expressed optimism that diplomatic efforts underway could help pave the way for a lasting and peaceful resolution of regional issues.

The Egyptian foreign minister also invited Dar to participate in the upcoming meeting of Regional Four (R-4) foreign ministers, scheduled to take place in Egypt later this month. The invitation was accepted, signaling continued cooperation between the two nations on regional and international matters.

The Foreign Office stated that both sides agreed to remain in regular contact and continue consultations on issues of mutual interest.

Separately, Dar chaired a high-level meeting focused on Pakistan’s automotive and auto parts policy, where he stressed the importance of building a competitive, innovative, and sustainable automotive sector. He highlighted the potential of the industry to drive economic growth, create skilled employment opportunities, and support environmental goals through the adoption of modern technologies, particularly electric vehicles.

Officials also reviewed measures aimed at accelerating the country’s transition to electric mobility while strengthening local manufacturing capabilities.
