Pakistan, South Africa U19 trophy unveiled

KARACHI: The trophy for the upcoming five-match Pakistan-South Africa Women’s U19 T20 series was unveiled at the National Bank Stadium as both teams prepare for an exciting contest.

The series will begin on July 14, with the remaining matches scheduled for July 17, 19, 22, and 24. All games will be played under lights, starting at 7pm local time, while the toss will take place at 6:30pm.

Cricket fans will be able to watch the matches live from the stadium, with selected enclosures opened free of charge for spectators.

Pakistan will enter the series under the leadership of captain Fizza Fiaz, while South Africa will be captained by Mieke van Voorst. The national U19 side comes into the series with confidence after defeating Bangladesh 3-2 in their previous five-match T20 series.

Twelve players from Pakistan’s squad that featured in the Bangladesh tour have retained their places for the home series. The team management hopes the combination of experienced players and young talent will help deliver a strong performance against South Africa.

Pakistan captain Fizza Fiaz said the team is excited to play in front of the home crowd and is ready for the challenge. She said the series victory against Bangladesh boosted the team’s confidence but added that South Africa are a competitive side and will require consistent performances.

“We are looking forward to starting the home series. Playing in front of our supporters is always special. We have prepared well and are eager to perform strongly in every department,” Fizza said.

She added that the team would focus on discipline, teamwork, and maintaining consistency throughout the five-match series.

The Pakistan squad includes Fizza Fiaz, Alzoha Hammad, Aqsa Habib, Areesha Ansari, Barirah Saif, Hadia Mina, Komal Khan, Mah Noor, Maham Nazakat, Mahnoor Zeb, Memoona Khalid, Raahima Syed, Ravail Farhan, Rozina Akram, Shahar Bano, Zainab Khanum, and Zoofishan Ayyaz.
