Pakistan’s security forces have intensified counterterrorism operations following a series of recent terrorist attacks targeting civilians in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, as well as the Pakistan Rangers’ camp in Karachi.

According to security sources, an intelligence-based ground operation was launched near the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in Bajaur district on June 28, 2026. During the operation, troops engaged a group of militants in a precise and coordinated action, resulting in the killing of four terrorists, including a high-value commander identified as Khan Farosh alias Zabal. The slain militants were reportedly linked to Jamaat-ul-Ahrar.

Security officials stated that several other militants were injured during the operation and fled towards nearby areas.

In a follow-up action carried out under Operation “Ghazb Lil Haq”, Pakistani forces conducted precision strikes during the night of June 28 and 29 against militant hideouts and training facilities located in border regions adjacent to Paktia, Paktika and Kunar.

The strikes reportedly destroyed three major militant targets and killed 25 terrorists associated with Jamaat-ul-Ahrar and Fitna al Khwarij. Large caches of weapons, ammunition and logistical supplies stored at the compounds were also destroyed.

Officials said the operations were based on credible intelligence and were aimed at dismantling terrorist infrastructure responsible for planning and facilitating attacks inside Pakistan.

Pakistan reiterated its commitment to regional peace and stability, while emphasizing that the protection of its citizens remains the country’s foremost priority.

Security forces and law enforcement agencies continue to pursue the national counterterrorism strategy under the “Azm-e-Istehkam” framework, with authorities vowing to eliminate militancy and foreign-sponsored terrorism from Pakistani soil.
