Pakistan weather forecast: Rain and thunderstorms eexpected in KP and Gilgit-Baltistan

 The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast hot and humid weather across most parts of the country during the next 24 hours while some areas of Gilgit-Baltistan and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa may receive rain accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms.

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast hot and humid weather across most parts of the country during the next 24 hours while some areas of Gilgit-Baltistan and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa may receive rain accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms.

According to the weather department, isolated areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are likely to experience showers with strong winds and thunderstorms during the evening and night on Monday.

The areas that could receive rain include Dir, Swat, Chitral, Kohistan and Battagram. Weather conditions in these areas are expected to remain partly cloudy at times, with the possibility of thunderstorms in some locations.

The PMD has also forecast partly cloudy conditions in Murree, Galiyat and surrounding areas.

In Sindh, most districts are expected to remain hot and humid during the next 24 hours. However, partly cloudy conditions are likely in Karachi and other coastal areas where light drizzle may also occur.

Most districts of Balochistan are also expected to experience hot and humid weather. Partly cloudy conditions are forecast in coastal areas of the province.

According to the meteorological department partly cloudy weather is expected in Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan while isolated areas may receive rain accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms. Partly cloudy conditions are also expected in parts of Kashmir.

The weather department said that most parts of Pakistan experienced hot and humid conditions during the previous 24 hours. However, some areas, including parts of Punjab, Patan and Gilgit-Baltistan received rain accompanied by strong winds and thunderstorms.

The highest rainfall during the past 24 hours was recorded in Sargodha where 35 millimeters of rain was reported. Lahore received 20 millimeters of rainfall during the same period.

The weather department also reported high temperatures in several parts of the country. Sibi recorded the highest temperature at 43°C, while Dadu recorded a maximum temperature of 41°C.

The latest forecast indicates that hot and humid weather will continue across much of Pakistan while residents of upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan should remain alert for localized thunderstorms, strong winds and rainfall.

Weather conditions can change quickly during thunderstorms and residents in affected areas are advised to follow official weather updates and take appropriate precautions.
