Pakistan’s military has maintained a longstanding presence in Saudi Arabia with Pakistani troops stationed in the Kingdom for several decades, Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry has confirmed.
Speaking in an interview with US media the DG ISPR highlighted the long-standing defence relationship between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. He said the two countries have maintained close military and defence ties for decades and the deployment of Pakistani personnel in Saudi Arabia is part of this established relationship.
Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry also referred to the Mecca Agreement while explaining the presence of Pakistani troops in the Kingdom. According to him the Pakistani personnel stationed there are associated with different domains and perform roles under the framework of the bilateral defence arrangement.
