Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Senator Pervaiz Rashid has suggested that senior government officials should receive medical treatment at public hospitals.

Speaking to reporters, Rashid said forming inquiry committees and handing out punishments would not be enough to improve the situation in government hospitals.

He proposed that everyone drawing a salary from the government should use public healthcare facilities for their medical treatment.

Rashid said the policy should apply to all senior officials, including the president, prime minister, bureaucracy and judiciary.

According to the PML-N senator, if government officials themselves rely on public hospitals, they would have a greater incentive to improve their standards and facilities.

He argued that the healthcare system could not improve if ordinary taxpayers continued to fund public services while those in authority chose private facilities.

Rashid stressed that making senior officials dependent on the same public hospitals used by citizens would create greater accountability and encourage authorities to address shortcomings in the healthcare system.
