WhatsApp is most-used app in Saudi Arabia, report finds

Which smartphone app is used the most by people in Saudi Arabia? A new report has provided an answer to this question.

According to the report, WhatsApp is the most widely used app in Saudi Arabia with 94.4% of men and 90.4% of women using it. It is the most widely used social media app in the country.

Snapchat ranks second with 88.2% of women and 80.2% of men using the platform. This makes it the second-most-used app among Saudi women after WhatsApp. The findings were revealed in the Saudi Internet 2025 report.

The report issued by the Saudi Communications, Space and Technology Commission provides details about the most widely used social media apps in Saudi Arabia.

According to the report, TikTok ranks third with 77.6% of women and 76.5% of men using the platform. YouTube ranks fourth with 81.1% of men and 68.8% of women using it. Instagram ranks fifth with 42.2% of women and 39.5% of men using the platform.

The report also revealed that 61.3% of internet users in Saudi Arabia spend seven hours or more online every day. Meanwhile, 34.4% of users spend between three and six hours online while 4.6% spend less than three hours online.

Internet usage in Saudi Arabia peaks between 9 p.m. and 11 p.m. while Friday is the busiest day for internet activity. Smartphones are the most commonly used devices for accessing the internet with a usage rate of 99.6%. Computers rank second at 47.4% followed by tablets at 39.2%.

As for the most popular websites in Saudi Arabia, Wikipedia is the most visited website followed by YouTube and Instagram in second and third place respectively.
