In a post on X, Cassis highlighted Switzerland’s commitment to dialogue and mediation, while acknowledging Pakistan’s crucial contributions to the diplomatic process. “As a country that places great importance on mediation, dialogue and good offices, Switzerland values Pakistan’s important role in supporting continued discussions on the implementation of the agreed US-Iran MoU,” Cassis wrote.

The Swiss Foreign Minister reaffirmed his country’s readiness to support initiatives aimed at de-escalation, regional stability, and lasting peace. His remarks underscore the strong partnership between Switzerland and Pakistan in facilitating the ongoing diplomatic efforts, with Bern providing the neutral setting for the technical negotiations while Islamabad serves as a key mediator.

The meeting comes as technical-level talks between the United States and Iran are underway in Burgenstock, with representatives from Pakistan and Qatar also participating as mediators. The discussions are a follow-up to the signing of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, which was facilitated by Pakistan’s sustained diplomatic engagement.

Switzerland has played a vital role in the process, offering a “discreet and reliable setting” for the negotiations and providing logistical support for the diplomatic efforts. The Lake Lucerne summit has brought together key stakeholders to advance the implementation of the MoU and address outstanding issues.

PM Shehbaz’s presence at the summit reflects Pakistan’s continued commitment to ensuring the success of the diplomatic process.
