NEW DELHI: India have announced a strong 15-member squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against England, with Shubman Gill appointed as captain.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed that Shreyas Iyer will serve as vice-captain for the series, which begins at Edgbaston on July 14. The remaining matches will be played in Cardiff on July 16 and at Lord’s on July 19.
Senior players Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have been included in the squad, adding experience to the batting lineup. However, Kohli’s participation remains subject to fitness clearance after recent injury concerns.
Wicketkeepers KL Rahul and Ishan Kishan have also been selected, providing depth in the squad. The team further includes all-rounders Washington Sundar, Axar Patel, and Nitish Kumar Reddy.
India’s pace attack features Jasprit Bumrah, Prasidh Krishna, Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh, and Gurnoor Brar, giving the side a balanced bowling unit across conditions.
The selectors also noted that spinner Varun Chakravarthy has been ruled out of the T20 series against Ireland as he continues rehabilitation from a foot injury sustained during the Indian Premier League.
For the Ireland T20I series, Shreyas Iyer will take charge as captain of the updated squad, which includes several young and emerging players alongside experienced names.
The BCCI said both squads reflect a mix of senior experience and new talent as India prepare for a packed international schedule.
