KARACHI: Several areas of Karachi experienced a power outage late at night, disrupting electricity supplies for around 90 minutes before power was restored.
The outage affected a number of areas across the city, including Manghopir, Keamari, New Karachi, Surjani Town, North Nazimabad, Lines Area, Lyari, Quaidabad and Gulshan-e-Hadeed.
Residents in the affected areas faced difficulties as the unexpected outage occurred late at night. Electricity remained unavailable for about an hour and a half before supplies began to return.
A spokesperson for K-Electric said the disruption was caused by a brief fault in the Extra High Tension (EHT) network. The issue affected electricity transmission to several areas for a limited period.
The spokesperson said electricity had already been restored in some of the affected localities and efforts were continuing to normalise supplies in the remaining areas.
According to K-Electric, electricity supply in most parts of Karachi remained normal despite the temporary disruption.
The outage comes as several areas of the city have also been experiencing extended load-shedding, with power cuts reportedly lasting between 12 and 14 hours in some localities.
K-Electric said its teams were working to restore normal electricity supplies and address disruptions wherever they occurred.
