Prince William is concerned that continuing controversies surrounding his uncle, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, could damage the British monarchy, according to an unnamed source cited by the Naughty But Nice Substack.
The source said William wanted Andrew to stay out of the public spotlight and avoid further legal disputes linked to his past association with Jeffrey Epstein.
“William has had enough. He wants Andrew to stop fighting, stay out of sight and stop putting Epstein and the Royal Family back into headlines. For William, every new legal battle damages the Crown,” the source was quoted as saying.
The comments were published by journalist Rob Shuter in his Naughty But Nice Substack.
The source also described a difference between William and King Charles III over how to deal with Andrew.
“Charles sees a brother with the right to fight. William sees a continuing threat to the monarchy. Publicly, Andrew is completely on his own,” the source said.
Andrew, formerly known as the Duke of York, has faced years of scrutiny over his association with Epstein, the convicted sex offender. Andrew has denied allegations of sexual misconduct and has repeatedly denied wrongdoing.
He settled a civil sexual-assault case brought by Virginia Giuffre in 2022 without admitting liability. Andrew has also denied allegations that he improperly shared confidential information with Epstein.
The latest comments come amid continuing debate over Andrew’s public role and the potential impact of the controversy on the royal family.
