Princess Eugenie is reportedly cautious about being seen publicly with Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, amid tensions within the royal family, according to Heat World.
A source cited by the publication said Eugenie remains supportive of Meghan but is wary of the potential impact on her relationship with other members of the royal family.
“It’s hard to have a private relationship with Meghan, there are always people watching, and Meghan also likes to put things on social media,” the source said.
“Eugenie does really care about Meghan and she wants to be supportive, but she also has to think of her own standing,” the source added.
The source said Eugenie was in a “very tough spot” and was “pretty anxious” about upsetting King Charles III and Prince William.
The source also claimed Eugenie may be aware that being seen publicly alongside Harry and Meghan could be interpreted as taking a side in the wider tensions within the royal family.
“Meghan is very unpopular in the social circles that Eugenie and Jack move in, there’s no doubt that will be weighing on Eugenie’s mind,” the source said.
A second unnamed source cited by Heat World said publicly supporting Harry and Meghan could be seen as “genuinely a risk” because it could be interpreted as opposing William, who is heir to the throne.
The claims come amid continuing tensions between Harry and other members of the royal family. Harry has previously said he wants to reconcile with his family, while William and Harry have remained publicly estranged in recent years.
