SWAT: The Pakhtun Students Federation (PSF) has demanded that the accused in the murder case of nine-year-old Eshmal in Madyan be punished within one week. It warned that if the demand is not accepted, the organization will hold a protest sit-in outside the office of the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Malakand Division.
PSF Swat former president Haris Bacha made the announcement while addressing a press conference at the Swat Press Club. Zagar Khan, Arbaz Hayat, Bilal Khan, Talha Khan, Malik Noman and other PSF members were also present.
Haris Bacha said the alleged sexual assault and murder of nine-year-old Eshmal in Madyan was a very painful and tragic incident. He said protests were held after the incident, while women also came out on the roads for the first time in large numbers and demanded justice.
He claimed that 62 cases of sexual violence were reported in Swat between 2022 and 2026, while the number of unreported cases was much higher. He said 21 such cases had been reported in the current year so far, calling the situation a matter of concern.
Haris Bacha said strict action and necessary legislation were needed to prevent such incidents. He also claimed that the accused in Eshmal’s murder case was a government employee and had already faced murder cases in the past. He questioned how the person was given a clearance certificate.
He alleged that political influence in government appointments could lead to such incidents and called for recruitment on merit and according to the law.
