Islamabad officials review law and order, security arrangements across capital

ISLAMABAD:  Chief Commissioner Islamabad, accompanied by Inspector General of Police (IG) Islamabad, Deputy Commissioner Islamabad and Additional Deputy Commissioner (General), visited several parts of the federal capital to assess the prevailing law and order situation and review security arrangements.

During the inspection, the senior officials examined security measures at major entry and exit points, sensitive locations and other important areas of Islamabad. They also reviewed the deployment of police and other personnel, traffic management arrangements and measures being implemented to protect citizens and maintain smooth movement across the capital.

The officials were briefed on the preparedness of relevant departments and the coordination mechanism among the administration, police and other institutions responsible for maintaining public order. The officers discussed measures to ensure an effective and timely response to any situation that could affect public safety or disrupt routine activities.

The Chief Commissioner said maintaining law and order remains a key priority of the government and Islamabad Administration. He stressed that all sections of society, including traders, business owners, professionals, government employees and other citizens, should be able to carry out their lawful activities peacefully and in accordance with the law.

He further directed that enforcement of the law should be carried out without discrimination. According to the Chief Commissioner, the administration, Islamabad Police and other law enforcement agencies would take action against activities that threaten public peace, disturb normal life or create difficulties for citizens, while ensuring that all measures remain within the legal framework and in line with directions of the Islamabad High Court.

The Chief Commissioner instructed officers to maintain heightened vigilance throughout the capital, particularly at entry and exit points and other strategically important locations. He also emphasised the need to keep security arrangements fully operational and ensure continuous coordination among Islamabad Police, the Capital Development Authority, district administration and other concerned departments.

During the briefing, the IG Islamabad apprised the Chief Commissioner and other senior officials of the prevailing security situation, police deployment and security arrangements across the city. He also briefed the officers on steps being taken by Islamabad Police to maintain public safety, regulate traffic and facilitate the movement of residents and visitors.

The Chief Commissioner directed police personnel to remain alert and ensure a prompt response to any emerging law and order situation.

The Deputy Commissioner and Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) briefed the officials on administrative arrangements and coordination with field teams. The senior officers stressed that close cooperation between the district administration, police and other departments was necessary to ensure an effective response to security-related challenges.

The officials also directed the concerned departments to make effective use of Safe City surveillance cameras for monitoring important locations. They called for rapid information sharing, coordinated decision-making and timely response in case of any incident.

Field officers were instructed to remain vigilant while ensuring that citizens, commuters, businesses and other lawful activities were not unnecessarily disrupted.

The officials reiterated that maintaining peace and public safety is essential for the smooth functioning of the federal capital. They said available resources should be utilised effectively to provide a secure and conducive environment for residents, visitors and the business community.

The Chief Commissioner reaffirmed that the Islamabad Administration would continue efforts to protect citizens and facilitate lawful social and economic activities. At the same time, any violation of the law or attempt to disturb public order would be dealt with strictly in accordance with applicable laws.

The inspection concluded with directions to maintain enhanced vigilance, continuous monitoring and strong inter-departmental coordination across Islamabad.
