PSL 12 dates confirmed for March 18-May 2

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has confirmed that the 12th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) will be played from March 18 to May 2, 2027.

The dates were finalised after consultations with representatives and owners of the league’s eight franchises during a PSL governing council meeting in London on September 1.

The PCB said the complete schedule, venues and ticketing details would be announced at a later stage. Preparations for the new season will also include direct player signings, retentions, trades and an auction.

PSL 12 will be the second season featuring eight teams after Hyderabad Kingsmen and Rawalpindiz joined the competition in 2026. The previous edition also marked the league’s transition from the traditional player draft to an auction system.

The inaugural PSL auction, held in February 2026, saw 103 players picked by the eight franchises. Players retained or selected during that process were placed on two-year contracts covering the 11th and 12th editions, while franchises can retain up to seven players for the upcoming season.

Peshawar Zalmi enter PSL 12 as defending champions after beating debutants Hyderabad Kingsmen by five wickets in the 2026 final at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium.

PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi said the previous season had raised expectations around the tournament and expressed confidence that the next edition would deliver an even bigger spectacle.

PSL Chief Executive Salman Naseer said preparations for the 2027 season had now officially begun, with the upcoming retention, trade, direct-signing and auction phases expected to generate further excitement.

The eight participating teams are Islamabad United, Karachi Kings, Lahore Qalandars, Multan Sultans, Peshawar Zalmi, Quetta Gladiators, Hyderabad Kingsmen and Rawalpindiz.

The PCB will announce further details about match venues, the auction and ticket sales in due course.
