LAHORE: Educational boards across Punjab have announced the results of the Class 9 annual examinations for 2026, with thousands of students appearing for the examinations across the province.

The results have been announced by the boards of Lahore, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Multan, Gujranwala, Sargodha, Sahiwal, Bahawalpur and Dera Ghazi Khan.

According to the Lahore Board, a total of 280,676 candidates appeared in the Class 9 examinations. Of these, 130,543 students passed, putting the overall success rate at 46.51%.

The results showed that more than half of the candidates failed to pass the examination.

Students from private schools performed considerably better than those from government institutions in Lahore. Around 70% of students from private schools passed, while the success rate among government school students stood at only 39%.

The performance gap was also visible between male and female students in government schools. Around 72% of boys and 52% of girls failed the Class 9 examinations.

In Multan, the overall pass percentage stood at 52.11%. A total of 140,675 candidates appeared, of whom 73,301 were declared successful.

The science group recorded a success rate of 54.85%, with 65,931 out of 120,213 candidates passing the examination.

The arts group recorded a comparatively lower success rate of 34.69%. Out of 14,795 candidates, 5,132 were declared successful.

Deaf and dumb students recorded an exceptionally high success rate of 98.33%. The success rate for Computer Science Technology stood at 39.98%, while Health Sciences recorded 39.14%.

The Faisalabad Board reported that 196,656 candidates appeared for the examinations. Around 100,708 students passed, resulting in a success rate of 51.21%.

The Gujranwala Board said 249,352 candidates appeared in the examinations, while 115,966 candidates were declared successful.

In Dera Ghazi Khan, 106,001 candidates appeared for the Class 9 examinations and 51,081 students passed. The overall success rate was recorded at 48.18%.

Students who do not have reliable internet access can also check their results through SMS. They can send their roll number to the designated code of their respective educational board.

The SMS codes are 800291 for Lahore, 800296 for Rawalpindi, 800240 for Faisalabad, 800293 for Multan, 800299 for Gujranwala, 800290 for Sargodha, 800292 for Sahiwal, 800298 for Bahawalpur and 800295 for Dera Ghazi Khan.
