Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has directed authorities to respond promptly to negative propaganda targeting the provincial police force.
Maryam Nawaz maintained that like other institutions the police force also has both good and bad individuals. However she said it was not appropriate to criticise the entire force because of the actions of a few individuals.
She argued that questioning the overall performance of the police on the basis of isolated incidents was unfair and failed to recognise the work of the wider force.
The chief minister also welcomed the reported decline in crime rates in Punjab attributing the improvement to effective reforms introduced by the provincial government.
She said the Crime Surveillance Unit would help make the campaign against crime more effective while stressing the importance of addressing negative narratives about the police through an immediate response.
Her remarks come as the provincial government continues its efforts to improve policing and strengthen crime prevention across Punjab.
