LAHORE: The Punjab government has constituted a five-member selection committee to oversee recruitment for various posts at the newly established Maryam Nawaz Sharif Medical College in Mianwali.
The Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education Department formed the committee following approval by the Punjab Cabinet, communicated through the Cabinet Wing of the Services and General Administration Department in July 2026.
Under a notification issued on September 4, 2026, the committee will recommend candidates for positions ranging from BS-01 to BS-16 across different categories at the medical college. The appointments will initially be made on a contractual basis for three years.
The Principal of Maryam Nawaz Sharif Medical College has been designated as the committee’s convener. Other members include a woman officer from the Commissioner’s Office, a representative of the Specialized Healthcare & Medical Education Department, an S&GAD Regulation Wing representative for BS-16 appointments, and the officer in charge of the concerned establishment.
According to officials, the composition of the committee is intended to provide institutional supervision while bringing together representatives from relevant government departments to support a transparent recruitment process.
The committee will oversee recruitment for all positions up to BS-16 and recommend suitable candidates for appointment. Officials said the staffing process is aimed at preparing the newly established institution for its academic and administrative requirements ahead of the upcoming session.
The notification has been forwarded to the relevant government offices, committee members and secretariat officials for information and necessary action.
The establishment of the Mianwali medical college is part of the Punjab government’s broader efforts to expand medical education and healthcare infrastructure in underserved areas of the province.
