LAHORE: The Punjab government has approved the creation of 31 new posts of Additional Deputy Commissioner (Headquarters) in BS-18 across various districts of the province, a move aimed at strengthening administrative capacity and improving governance at the district level.

The Punjab Finance Department issued a notification on August 6, 2026, approving the creation of the new positions under Grant No. PC21184 (184), relating to Services and General Administration. The approval has been granted with the condition that the financial requirements for the newly created posts will be met from the existing budget allocation of the Services and General Administration Department (S&GAD) during the ongoing financial year 2026-27.

The decision follows a request submitted by the concerned department through letter No. SI-1-4/2026 dated August 5, 2026. The approval allows the provincial administration to establish the posts without seeking an additional budget allocation for the current financial year.

Districts to get new ADC posts

According to the notification, the 31 new posts of Additional Deputy Commissioner (Headquarters) will be established in districts across different parts of Punjab.

The districts included in the approval are Kasur, Sheikhupura, Nankana Sahib, Sialkot, Narowal, Hafizabad, Mandi Bahauddin, Wazirabad, Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal, Murree, Talagang, Khushab, Mianwali, Bhakkar, Toba Tek Singh, Jhang, Chiniot, Vehari, Khanewal, Lodhran, Okara, Pakpattan, Rajanpur, Muzaffargarh, Layyah, Kot Addu, Taunsa, Bahawalnagar and Rahim Yar Khan.

The establishment of ADC Headquarters posts in these districts is expected to provide additional administrative support to Deputy Commissioners and facilitate the management of government affairs at the district level.

Budget and accounting arrangements

The Finance Department notification specifies that expenditure relating to the newly sanctioned posts will be debitable to Provincial Government Account No. 1. The expenditure will be booked under Grant No. PC21184 (184) — Services and General Administration.

The relevant accounting classification includes 01-General Public Service, 015-General Services, 0151-Personnel Services and 015101-Establishment Services General Administration.

The department has also directed that the financial impact of the decision remain within the existing budgetary provision of the S&GAD Department for the financial year 2026-27.

Copies of the notification have been forwarded to the Accountant General Punjab, Deputy Secretary (Services) of the Services and General Administration Department, and Budget Officer-I of the Finance Department for information and necessary action.

The creation of the 31 BS-18 positions is expected to enhance the administrative structure of Punjab’s districts by providing additional senior-level officers to assist with official coordination, administrative matters and implementation of government policies.

The move is also likely to improve coordination between district administrations and provincial departments and strengthen the government’s ability to respond to public service and administrative requirements at the local level.

The approval comes as part of the provincial government’s efforts to improve administrative efficiency while managing expenditure within the limits of the existing budget.
