Punjab installs panic buttons for foreign nationals

LAHORE: A panic button system has been launched to enhance the security of foreign nationals residing and working across Punjab. The Punjab Safe Cities Authority has launched the system in collaboration with the Special Protection Unit.

According to a spokesperson, quick response panic buttons will be installed at the residences and workplaces of foreign nationals. By scanning the code, users will gain instant access to the Emergency Helpline 15, live chat, video calling, and location-sharing services.

In case of an emergency, the user’s live location and other relevant information will be transmitted instantly to the command and control centre, enabling law enforcement agencies to ensure a prompt and coordinated response.

The spokesperson said the system has been integrated with the command and control system, allowing the police and Special Protection Unit to assess situations and respond without delay. The system will establish a direct communication link between foreign nationals, the Punjab Safe Cities Authority, and the Special Protection Unit.
