Lahore : Under the “Safe Punjab” vision of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the Punjab Safe Cities Authority (PSCA), in collaboration with the Special Protection Unit (SPU), has launched an advanced QR Panic Button System for the protection of foreign nationals residing and working across Punjab. The initiative aims to provide immediate assistance, seamless communication, and a swift police response during emergency situations.
According to a spokesperson of the Punjab Safe Cities Authority, QR Panic Buttons will be installed at the residences and workplaces of foreign nationals throughout the province. By simply scanning the QR code, users will gain instant access to Emergency Helpline 15, live chat, video call, and location-sharing services. In the event of an emergency, the user’s live location and other relevant information will be transmitted immediately to the Punjab Safe Cities Authority’s Command and Control Center, enabling a prompt and coordinated response.
The spokesperson further stated that the QR Panic Button System has been fully integrated with the Punjab Safe Cities Authority’s state-of-the-art Command and Control System. This integration will allow the Police and the Special Protection Unit (SPU) to instantly assess the situation and ensure a timely response. The system will establish a direct and reliable communication link between foreign nationals, PSCA, and SPU, significantly improving emergency response and operational coordination.
According to the spokesperson, the Punjab Safe Cities Authority continues to strengthen public safety through advanced digital security solutions, smart policing, and Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based technologies. The QR Panic Button System is another key component of this integrated digital security framework, designed to provide a safer environment for foreign nationals while enhancing operational efficiency of law enforcement agencies.
The spokesperson added that, under Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s “Safe Punjab” vision, use of modern technology is being expanded to further strengthen public safety system across Punjab. The newly introduced QR Panic Button System will not only ensure faster communication and prompt emergency response but will also contribute to enhancing Punjab’s secure environment, strengthening international confidence, and promoting province-wide technology-driven smart policing.
