Punjab takes action against 791 police personnel

Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari has confirmed that disciplinary action has been taken against 791 police officers and personnel across the province within 13 days as part of an ongoing crackdown on corruption and misconduct in government institutions.

In a statement, Bokhari said action against corrupt officials in Punjab’s government departments was continuing, with the provincial authorities taking measures to improve accountability and discipline within public institutions.

She said a total of 791 officers and personnel of the Punjab Police had faced action during the 13-day period.

According to the provincial information minister, 78 police personnel were dismissed from service, while 60 others were suspended over allegations of corruption.

Bokhari further said 230 police personnel had been ordered to report to the police lines as part of disciplinary proceedings. She added that 79 personnel had faced demotion in rank and arrest in connection with the action taken against them.

The minister said inquiries against another 274 police personnel were currently underway.

Bokhari said the figures reflected the provincial government’s continued efforts to take action against officials accused of corruption and other violations. The measures, she added, were part of efforts to strengthen accountability and ensure discipline within Punjab’s police force.

The provincial government has continued to emphasise action against officials facing allegations of corruption and misconduct, with departments being directed to address complaints and take disciplinary measures where violations are established.
