US delegation holds defence talks with CDF Asim Munir

A delegation from a US-based company providing services in the defence and critical infrastructure sectors met with Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir at General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi on Wednesday.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the delegation was led by Robert Bret Velicovich. The meeting focused on matters of mutual interest, with discussions also covering emerging trends in defence technology and potential areas of cooperation.

The meeting comes as technological advancements continue to reshape the defence and security sectors, increasing the importance of modern systems, specialised expertise and technological innovation in strengthening national capabilities.

During the meeting, the two sides also discussed possible avenues for cooperation in the procurement and production of defence equipment. They exchanged views on opportunities to enhance capabilities and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of defence-related systems.

The discussions also explored the potential for greater collaboration between relevant Pakistani institutions and the US company in areas where technological expertise and infrastructure development could contribute to Pakistan’s broader defence capabilities.

Field Marshal Asim Munir highlighted the importance of technological innovation in strengthening national security and maintaining stability. He also expressed interest in expanding engagement and cooperation in areas of mutual interest.

The meeting provided an opportunity for both sides to discuss developments in defence technology and consider possible avenues for future collaboration. The focus on procurement, local production and capacity enhancement also reflects the growing importance of technological capabilities in the modern defence environment.

ISPR said the army chief welcomed greater interaction in mutually beneficial areas and emphasised the role of innovation in supporting national security and stability.

The meeting at GHQ comes amid growing global emphasis on advanced defence technologies, indigenous production capabilities and critical infrastructure. Cooperation in these areas can involve technology, equipment procurement, production capacity and specialised technical expertise.
