On Thursday, September 17, the Colombian singer released the sensual music video for their collaborative single. Its promotional campaign has already garnered 17.4 million views on Instagram in just a few hours.

“WATER is already in the streets. Another one for the story!!!” Maluma wrote over the video, which he shared in a joint post with Shakira.

“Agua,” which is the Spanish word for “water,” blends Caribbean-rooted rhythms with sleek pop production, creating a soundtrack for giving in to attraction.

Notably, the racy music video was directed by Hannah Lux Davis and builds a glossy, tropical world around the song’s central metaphor.

This is not the first collaboration between Shakira and Maluma. The two previously worked together on the hit song “Chantaje” in 2016 and later reunited for “Trap” and “Clandestino” in 2018.

The two musicians have also collaborated on other projects, including “Chantaje,” “Trap” and “Clandestino.”

Maluma announced the song on TikTok earlier this month, sharing clips of its merengue-influenced sound without initially revealing his collaborator.

The release comes as Shakira prepares for the final stretch of her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour, with a 12-show residency in Madrid beginning September 18.

She will continue performing in Madrid through October 11, 2026, at the custom-built Shakira Stadium in Macondo Park.

The venue features cultural spaces inspired by Gabriel García Márquez’s One Hundred Years of Solitude, with the park open to visitors before and after the 8:30 p.m. shows.
