Sindh people are unfortunate to have such rulers’: Afridi

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has criticised the Sindh government, saying the people of Sindh are unfortunate to have such rulers.

Speaking at a lawyers’ convention in Karachi, Afridi said the people of Sindh had given him respect and had bravely resisted what he called fascism.

He alleged that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf workers were being arrested in Karachi. He said the PTI believed the current assemblies had been formed through an improper process.

Afridi also criticised the political leadership in Sindh. He said that while Bilawal Bhutto Zardari welcomed him, roads were dug up along his route.

He questioned the statement of a chief minister who had said there was a threat from neighbouring countries. Afridi pointed out that the same chief minister’s party was also part of the federal government.

He said this raised questions about the party’s narrative towards the state.

The KP chief minister said relations with Afghanistan had been better during the tenure of PTI founder Imran Khan. He claimed that when the PTI criticised the government’s Afghanistan policy, its leaders were told to “go to Afghanistan.”

Afridi also highlighted his personal background. He said he used to travel to school by buses and rickshaws.

“I am not a relative of the PTI founder, nor am I a billionaire,” he said.
