Sohail Afridi calls Imran Khan Pakistan’s way out

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has reiterated his support for PTI founder Imran Khan, saying he will continue to stand with him and what he described as the cause of justice and political rights.

Addressing Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers in Nawab Shah, Afridi claimed that the party remains the only major political force in Sindh representing PTI supporters. He also spoke about his political background, stressing that he had not entered politics through family influence or inherited political connections.

“I have no MPAs or MNAs in my family. I did not reach this position by riding on anyone’s shoulders; I built my own political career,” Afridi said.

The chief minister strongly defended Imran Khan and argued that his continued political struggle reflected a commitment to Pakistan rather than a desire for power. He said those who oppose the PTI founder fear his name and image because he continues to speak about the country’s future.

Afridi maintained that Imran Khan could have left Pakistan or sought personal relief if he had been interested only in political power. Instead, he said, Khan chose to remain in the country and face the challenges confronting him.

“If the founder had been hungry for power, he would have left the country after becoming ill, just as others did,” Afridi said. He added that Khan understands the consequences of giving up his position, arguing that if he compromises today, others may lose the courage to stand up tomorrow.

The KP chief minister also criticized the country’s economic management, claiming that Pakistan’s total debt increased substantially after Imran Khan’s government was removed. He cited an increase from around Rs43 trillion to Rs94 trillion and argued that successive governments had failed to present a convincing long-term economic strategy.

Afridi accused his political opponents of lacking a clear policy for addressing Pakistan’s economic and political challenges. He said the country needs leadership capable of taking difficult decisions and steering it out of what he called a deepening crisis.

According to Afridi, Imran Khan remains the only leader capable of helping Pakistan overcome its current difficulties. He said PTI workers should remain committed to their political struggle and not allow pressure or intimidation to weaken their resolve.

“I am a soldier of Imran Khan,” Afridi said, adding that no power in the world could frighten him into abandoning his political position.

His remarks came as the PTI continues to maintain its political campaign around Imran Khan, with party leaders repeatedly calling on supporters to remain united and stand behind the former prime minister.
