Bhasker discussed the incident while appearing as a contestant on the reality show Rise and Fall. During the conversation, the actress recalled feeling frightened by what she described as inappropriate behaviour from the director during a film shoot.
According to Bhasker, the incident occurred shortly after the success of Tanu Weds Manu which she described as her first major leading film. She said the production involved an extended shooting schedule of around 56 days.
The actress recalled that the director initially told her that filmmakers should have affection for the actors they work with. She said he later began sending her poetic messages complimenting her appearance to which she responded politely.
The situation reportedly became uncomfortable when Bhasker was scheduled to film a romantic sequence with the male lead. She said the director wanted her to rehearse the scene privately with him rather than with the rest of the production team.
Bhasker said she refused the request and suggested that the actor and cinematographer should also be present during the rehearsal.
She later claimed that she discovered the director and cinematographer had been drinking alcohol. Recalling her feelings at the time she questioned why a young actress in her early twenties would be expected to rehearse privately with two intoxicated men.
According to Bhasker the situation frightened her and she left the location as soon as she could.
She also recalled another incident in which she said the director appeared at her door late at night while intoxicated and insisted on hugging her. Bhasker described the overall experience as deeply uncomfortable.
Bhasker began her film career with Madholal Keep Walking in 2009. She gained wider recognition after appearing in Tanu Weds Manu in 2011 and subsequently featured in films including Raanjhanaa, Tanu Weds Manu Returns, Prem Ratan Dhan Payo and Veere Di Wedding.
In 2023, Bhasker married politician Fahad Ahmad. The couple have a daughter named Raabiyaa.
She is currently participating in the second season of Rise and Fall which is being hosted by former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag.
