Taylor Swift once again missed her husband Travis Kelce’s Kansas City Chiefs game as the team played on the road for the second consecutive week.
Swift was absent from the Chiefs’ away game in Las Vegas, where Kansas City faced the Raiders. Her decision to stay home appeared understandable after she made a surprise appearance on Saturday Night Live the previous evening alongside her close friend Dakota Johnson, who hosted the show.
Although Swift has access to a private jet and could potentially travel quickly between locations, making a cross-country trip after her late-night television appearance would still have been demanding. Her absence at the Chiefs’ latest road game was also not entirely surprising. The singer did not attend any of the team’s road games during the 2025 season and also missed Kansas City’s first road game of the current season against the Miami Dolphins.
Swift’s absence comes during an especially busy period for the singer. She has been promoting her latest music while also taking part in several major entertainment events. On September 27, the same day the Chiefs defeated the Dolphins 24-10, Swift received the inaugural MTV VMA Artist Director Honors at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards in Los Angeles.
During her acceptance speech, Swift reflected on her long involvement in music videos and explained why directing has become such an important part of her career.
Swift said she had been involved in making around 60 music videos, including about 18 that she personally wrote and directed. She also credited her fans for making the creative process rewarding and said their support encouraged her to continue exploring music video production.
The singer used the moment to thank the many people who had worked with her on different projects throughout her career. She also emphasized that she had learned something from everyone involved in the videos she helped create.
As part of the celebration, Swift showed the audience her “Patient Zero” music video. The video was connected to her latest release, The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore, which also featured several other songs.
Swift released “Patient Zero” two days before the awards ceremony, alongside “Cleveland!,” “Pink Clouding” and “Babylon.” The new songs have continued to attract attention from fans, including members of Kelce’s family.
“Cleveland!,” in particular, received a mention from Jason Kelce during an episode of his podcast on September 30. Jason, Travis Kelce’s older brother, praised the song and gave Swift a shout-out while discussing the city.
Jason said Cleveland was “rocking” and credited Swift for creating the song. He also described the track as incredible, adding that he and his wife, Kylie Kelce, had been listening to it frequently.
The comments added another connection between Swift and the Kelce family as the singer continues her relationship with Travis. Swift has frequently attracted attention whenever she attends Chiefs games, especially home and high-profile matchups.
Despite her absence in Las Vegas, Travis Kelce and the Chiefs continued their season without her in the stands. Kansas City will now enter its bye week after facing the Raiders.
The Chiefs are scheduled to return to action on October 18, when they will host the Los Angeles Chargers. Whether Swift attends that home game remains unknown, but her appearance would likely attract significant attention from both football fans and Swifties.
