Three arrested after alleged assault on veterinary doctor in Gujrat

GUJRAT: Police have arrested three nominated suspects after a veterinary doctor was allegedly subjected to severe torture by a group of men in the Boharich area of Kakarali police station, prompting District Police Officer (DPO) Gujrat Faisal Shehzad to take notice of the incident.

According to police, a case was registered against seven nominated suspects and three unidentified persons following the alleged assault on veterinary doctor Ramzan Saeed.

The incident reportedly took place in the jurisdiction of Kakarali police station, where the doctor was allegedly beaten by the suspects. A video of the incident, showing the alleged assault, was also recorded by the attackers and later came to the attention of police.

Following the DPO’s directions, police registered a first information report and launched an operation to arrest those allegedly involved in the incident.

Police said three nominated suspects had been arrested so far. The arrested men were identified as Shavez and Ashfaq, while the identity of the third arrested suspect was not immediately disclosed by the police.

The arrested suspects are being interrogated, while police teams have been conducting raids at different locations to apprehend the remaining nominated and unidentified suspects, according to the police spokesperson.

DPO Faisal Shehzad directed the concerned police officials to ensure the arrest of all suspects nominated in the case and proceed against them strictly in accordance with the law.

The police said no citizen would be allowed to be subjected to violence or any other illegal act, adding that all those found involved in the alleged assault would face legal action.

The incident has raised concerns over the alleged use of private force against a citizen and the apparent filming of the assault. The video footage is expected to form part of the evidence being examined by investigators.

The DPO directed the investigation team to collect all available evidence, examine the video footage and establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Police officials reiterated that violence against citizens would not be tolerated and that the law would be applied without discrimination.

The investigation was under way, while police teams continued raids in different areas for the arrest of the remaining suspects.
