Trump approval slips as Iran war faces growing opposition

US President Donald Trump’s approval rating has fallen further as a growing number of American voters oppose the ongoing military conflict with Iran, according to a new Fox News poll.

The survey, conducted from September 11 to 14 among 1,211 registered voters, found that 60% of respondents believe the United States made the wrong decision by taking military action against Iran. Only 37% said they supported the decision, highlighting a significant gap between opponents and supporters of the war.

The poll also found widespread doubts about the Trump administration’s strategy for bringing the conflict to an end. Around seven in 10 registered voters said the administration does not have a clear strategy to end the war. The view was particularly strong among Democrats and independents, although 43% of Republicans also said the administration lacked a clear plan.

Public concern over the consequences of the conflict has also increased. Nearly half of voters, or 47%, said they believe the war will make the United States less safe in the long run. That figure has risen from 39% in April. Meanwhile, 32% believe the conflict will make the country safer, while 20% expect little change.

Trump’s overall job approval stands at 39%, while 61% of voters disapprove of his performance. Fox News reported that his approval rating has not exceeded 39% since April, when it stood at 42%. His rating on foreign policy is even lower, with 37% approving and 62% disapproving of his handling of the issue.

The latest figures come as the Iran conflict continues to dominate debate over the administration’s foreign policy. The war has also become increasingly connected to domestic concerns, including fuel prices and broader economic pressures.

The survey shows that dissatisfaction extends beyond the question of whether the United States should have entered the conflict. Many voters are also questioning the administration’s ability to define a clear end point and explain how it plans to conclude the war.

Fox News conducted the survey with Beacon Research and Shaw & Company Research. The poll has a margin of sampling error of plus or minus three percentage points for the full sample.
