Islamabad Police extend leave ban until October 5

The Islamabad Police will keep a ban on most types of leave in force until October 5, 2026, according to an official circular issued by the department.

Under the directive, police officers and personnel will not be allowed to take regular leave during the specified period. The restriction will apply to all categories of leave except emergency leave, which officials may still grant when circumstances require immediate absence from duty.

The circular also directed officers and personnel who are currently on leave to return to their respective places of posting without delay. The department has instructed those personnel to report for duty and resume their assigned responsibilities in line with the latest orders.

Police authorities have also asked all concerned supervisory officers to ensure strict implementation of the directive. The instructions cover personnel deployed in different units and formations of the Islamabad Police, requiring them to remain available for official duties during the period covered by the circular.

The department did not provide further details in the circular regarding the specific circumstances behind the extension of the leave restrictions. However, the order makes clear that the police leadership wants maximum personnel availability and operational readiness until October 5.

Senior officers have been directed to communicate the orders to their respective teams and ensure that no unauthorised leave is granted during the restriction period. Personnel who require time off because of an emergency will remain subject to the department’s existing approval procedures.

The Islamabad Police has also warned its officers and personnel to follow the instructions strictly. Any employee currently away from duty on approved leave must return to the assigned posting and report to the relevant authority.

The latest directive means that routine leave requests will remain suspended for the coming weeks, while emergency leave will continue to be considered on a case-by-case basis. The restriction will remain effective until October 5 unless the police department issues a new order before that date.
