Zardari, Nawaz, Bilawal, Naqvi set for London visits

ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari, Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif are scheduled to be in London this week, prompting speculation about a possible political gathering.

However, information verified by Minute Mirror indicates that the four leaders are travelling to London under separate, pre-scheduled plans. Sources familiar with their travel arrangements said there is no joint political agenda or coordinated meeting planned among them.

President Zardari is travelling to London from Pakistan, while Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi is also scheduled to visit the British capital.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is travelling to London from Austria. Nawaz Sharif, meanwhile, is expected to arrive in London from Singapore.

The simultaneous presence of the senior political figures has generated discussion on social media and among some media outlets. Some commentators have described it as a possible revival of a political “London plan” and linked the timing to expected political developments in September.

Sources, however, rejected such interpretations and described the overlap in their travel schedules as coincidental.

They said the visits had been planned weeks earlier and were not arranged to facilitate a collective political meeting. They also dismissed speculation about a secret political agenda being prepared in London.

The development has nevertheless revived a familiar pattern of political speculation surrounding high-profile Pakistani leaders travelling to the UK.

In recent years, social media platforms and some YouTube channels have frequently circulated claims about imminent political developments, particularly concerning the future of PTI founder Imran Khan. Various predictions about meetings, judicial relief and possible release dates have repeatedly circulated without materialising.

Sources criticised the practice of presenting unverified political predictions as confirmed developments. They said such speculation can create unnecessary uncertainty and mislead the public.

Minute Mirror said it does not support rumor-based reporting or sensational claims presented as established facts. The publication said its editorial policy is focused on providing verified information in the public and national interest.

According to sources, the London visits of Zardari, Naqvi, Bilawal and Nawaz Sharif should therefore not be interpreted as evidence of a coordinated political plan unless credible information about such a meeting emerges.
