LAHORE/GUJRANWALA: Police have safely recovered a 12-year-old girl who went missing from the Ichhra area of Lahore, tracing her to a Darul Aman in Gujranwala after an extensive surveillance operation.
A kidnapping case was registered at Ichhra Police Station under Section 363 of the Pakistan Penal Code after the girl’s family reported her disappearance from their residence in Umar Block, Model Town, during the early hours of August 27.

Following the incident, the Punjab chief minister took notice and directed authorities to accelerate efforts to locate the missing child. A special investigation team was formed under the supervision of Lahore Investigation authorities to trace her whereabouts.
Police teams from the Ichhra Operations and Investigation wings worked alongside the Lahore Investigation team and examined footage from more than 100 surveillance cameras along routes connecting Lahore with Gujranwala. Investigators also conducted searches at several locations as part of the operation.
The surveillance trail eventually led police to Gujranwala, where the girl was located and recovered from Darul Aman. Officials said she is currently safe and will be reunited with her parents after completion of the required legal procedures and approval from the Juvenile Court.
Further investigation into the circumstances surrounding the disappearance is continuing. Police said the case is being investigated by ASI Muhammad Shafique.
The successful recovery highlights the role of surveillance technology and coordination between police units in tracing missing children across district boundaries.
