LOWER DIR: At least 15 security personnel, including 13 police officers and two Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) officials, were injured when terrorists opened fire on an Elite Force convoy in the mountainous Laram area of Lower Dir on Tuesday.
According to official sources, the intense attack also resulted in the destruction of a police vehicle, which caught fire during the incident.
Following the assault, heavy contingents of police and security forces rushed to the area and launched a large-scale search operation to trace and apprehend the attackers.
The injured personnel have been identified as Miftahuddin (2244), Naseeb Khan (5494), Rehanullah (2058), Habib-ul-Hasan (2068), Amir Muhammad (5449), Bakht Bedar (5717), Izzatullah (425), Shahab (831), Razi Muhammad (1060), Jawad (8866), Nawab (2912), Luqman Bahadur (1220), Muhammad Nadeem (2276), CTD official Mehboob Ali (595), and CTD official Asif Khan.
The injured were shifted to nearby hospitals for medical treatment. Security forces have cordoned off the area, and the search operation remains underway. No group has immediately claimed responsibility for the attack.
