According to authorities, an Afghan national identified as Ehsanullah described as an alleged key figure in the drug network, and a local facilitator were arrested during the operation.

Investigators reportedly obtained important information during questioning of the Afghan suspect about a shipment of narcotics that had been sent to Colombo.

The information was subsequently shared with Sri Lankan authorities and the United States Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), according to the details provided by the ANF.

A joint operation in Colombo later led to the recovery of another 471 kilograms of ice. The drugs were reportedly concealed inside towels at Colombo Port.

The development highlights the suspected international nature of the drug-smuggling network under investigation with authorities in Pakistan and Sri Lanka cooperating to trace the movement of narcotics across borders.

The ANF has continued operations against drug trafficking networks and has been working with international law-enforcement agencies to identify and disrupt cross-border smuggling routes.

Further investigation is underway to determine the wider network involved in the Karachi and Colombo shipments and identify any additional suspects or facilitators.

The arrested individuals will face legal proceedings, while investigators are expected to examine the seized narcotics shipping records and other evidence to establish the full scope of the alleged trafficking operation.
