Veteran Indian actor Amitabh Bachchan has praised the young footballers competing in the FIFA World Cup, saying their performances reflect how much opportunities for the younger generation have improved over the years.

Sharing his thoughts on his personal blog, Bachchan said he is amazed to see teenagers representing their countries on football’s biggest stage. He noted that many players aged 17 and 18 are already performing under immense international pressure and delivering outstanding performances.

The actor said that when people from older generations watch these young athletes, they often ask themselves what they were doing at the same age. He observed that most people from previous generations never had similar opportunities to compete or succeed on such a global platform.

Bachchan said today’s youth benefit from rapid progress in sports, technology, education, and professional training. According to him, young athletes now have access to better coaching, improved facilities, and international exposure, allowing them to develop their skills much earlier than before.

He added that although older generations may sometimes wish such opportunities had existed during their youth, there is also satisfaction in watching today’s young people achieve remarkable success. He said future generations will continue reaching new milestones, even if previous generations are no longer there to witness every achievement.

The veteran actor also admitted that following the FIFA World Cup has completely changed his daily routine. He said the excitement of the tournament has made him lose track of time as he continues watching matches and following the performances of different teams.

Commenting on the competition, Bachchan said several traditional football powers have produced disappointing results, which surprised many fans. At the same time, he expressed admiration for the impressive performances of underdog nations that have exceeded expectations and challenged stronger opponents.

He said the success of smaller football nations has made the tournament even more exciting because it proves that determination, teamwork, and talent can overcome reputation and history.

Bachchan also praised the spirit of international football, saying players who compete fiercely against one another in club competitions put aside their rivalries when representing their countries.
