Bank of America executive killed in Times Square stabbing

A Bank of America vice president was killed after being stabbed during a violent incident in New York City’s Times Square, authorities said.

Erin Piacenti, 32, was attacked on Monday and later died from her injuries at a hospital. She worked as a vice president in Bank of America’s business selection and conflicts unit.

The New York Police Department said Piacenti suffered multiple stab wounds during the incident. She was taken to a hospital for treatment but could not survive her injuries.

According to New York authorities, a 49-year-old woman identified as Pamela Cisneros was carrying several knives when she attacked two people in the busy Times Square area.

Police officers responded to the scene as the situation unfolded. Authorities said officers first used a Taser before opening fire. Cisneros was killed during the police response.

NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch said the attacks appeared to be random and unprovoked. Investigators are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the incident and the possible motive behind the attack.

The incident occurred in one of New York City’s busiest tourist and commercial areas. Times Square is regularly crowded with visitors, workers and commuters, making the attack particularly alarming.

Bank of America expressed shock and sadness over Piacenti’s death. The company described her as a valued colleague and said she would be deeply missed.

The bank’s Manhattan headquarters is located at One Bryant Park, close to Times Square. The company also operates several other offices across New York City.

Authorities have not announced a clear motive for the stabbing. Investigators from the NYPD’s Force Investigation Division are handling the case.

The latest incident has renewed concerns about violence in central Manhattan. It also comes after the fatal shooting of a senior Blackstone executive last year. In that incident, a gunman entered a Midtown office building armed with a rifle and opened fire.
