Barrister Gohar calls provincial federal funding demand “unconstitutional”

He made these remarks while speaking to the media on Adiala Road in Rawalpindi.

Barrister Gohar said that meetings with the PTI founder have been suspended for the past 35 weeks. He added that the party is continuously demanding access for the founder’s personal doctors and family members.

He stated that the PTI founder is facing health issues, including an eye problem for which five injections have been administered. He also said that Bushra Bibi has undergone eye surgery.

The PTI chairman said that a budget should provide relief to the public. He said essential items such as gas, electricity, and food should become cheaper for citizens.

He added that the PTI had presented proposals during the budget process. However, he said the government’s majority means opposition suggestions are not given due importance.

Barrister Gohar emphasized that provincial financial support to the federation must follow constitutional principles. He said provinces should receive their rightful share under the National Finance Commission (NFC) Award.

He further said that the federal government should focus on increasing its own revenue. He also called for reducing unnecessary expenditures instead of seeking funds from provinces.

He termed the demand for provincial funds unjustified. He said political issues should be resolved through political dialogue and democratic means.
