Bebe Rexha has recalled how Taylor Swift reached out to support her after she struggled to find a designer willing to dress her for the 2019 Grammy Awards.

Bebe Rexha has recalled how Taylor Swift reached out to support her after she struggled to find a designer willing to dress her for the 2019 Grammy Awards.

Speaking to E! News at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday, Rexha said Swift’s gesture stood out because few people had offered support at the time.

“I remember when I had that whole Grammys situation when I couldn’t find a dress and she reached out to me because we’re the same age, and I thought that was really, really kind of her,” Rexha said. “Nobody really reached out. Some people did, but for her at such a high level to make me feel like I belonged was really, really nice.”

The incident dates to a since-deleted Instagram post Rexha shared in 2019, in which she said several designers had declined to dress her for the Grammys because of her size.

Rexha, who said at the time that she wore a size 6-8, criticized the designers for excluding women who wear larger sizes.

“A lot of them do not want to dress me because I’m too big,” she said at the time.

In the post, Rexha wrote: “You’re saying all the women in the world that are a size 8 and up are not beautiful and that they cannot wear your dresses.”

She also wrote: “Empower women to love their bodies instead of making girls and women feel less then by their size. We are beautiful any size!”

Designer August Getty responded by offering to create a custom gown for Rexha.

“You are beautiful! Every woman of every size is beautiful! Just let me know when I should start sketching,” Getty wrote.

Rexha, whose full name is Bleta Rexha, is an American singer and songwriter. She began her career as a vocalist for the band Black Cards in 2010.
