Mahira thanked Hussain for his contribution to the project and for helping her understand and portray her character, Billo. Sharing a behind-the-scenes picture featuring herself, Hussain and co-star Wahaj Ali, the actor expressed her appreciation for the director’s faith in her character.

“You believed in Billo and knew her more than I ever could,” Mahira wrote in her message. She ended the note warmly by signing off as “your Billo.”

Hussain later shared Mahira’s message on his Instagram story and said that her words had deeply touched him. He described their work together as a memorable journey that he would always cherish.

Written by Faiza Iftikhar and directed by Hussain, Mitti De Baway is set in rural Punjab and begins in 1999. The story revolves around Billo and Baala, played by Mahira Khan and Wahaj Ali, whose romance takes an unexpected turn.

Baala is sent to prison on an undisclosed charge, while Billo’s life changes dramatically during their separation. When the story moves forward to 2002, Billo has become a pir, or spiritual guide, and has built a following of her own.

The drama marks Mahira Khan and Wahaj Ali’s first on-screen pairing, adding to the anticipation surrounding the project. Its trailers and teasers have also received positive reactions from several members of Pakistan’s entertainment industry.
