Commander of the Turkish Land Forces, General Metin Tokel, has visited Pakistan and held separate meetings with senior military leadership, including the Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir at the General Headquarters (GHQ) Rawalpindi.

Upon arrival at GHQ, the visiting commander was presented a smartly turned-out Guard of Honour by a Pakistan Army contingent.

During the meeting, both sides discussed matters of mutual professional interest, evolving regional security challenges, and opportunities to further strengthen bilateral defence cooperation. Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir underscored the longstanding historical, cultural, and strategic ties between Pakistan and Turkiye, and appreciated the close cooperation between the armed forces of both countries.

General Metin Tokel also visited Naval Headquarters in Islamabad, where he met Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf. The two discussed professional matters and the regional maritime security environment, with a focus on enhancing naval collaboration.

The Turkish commander later called on Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu at Air Headquarters in Islamabad. The meeting focused on expanding bilateral military cooperation and strengthening institutional linkages between the air forces of the two countries.

During his interactions, General Tokel praised the professionalism of the Pakistan Armed Forces and acknowledged their role in promoting regional peace and stability. He also expressed Turkey’s commitment to further deepening defence cooperation and military-to-military engagement with Pakistan.
