Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir held important meetings with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Turkish Armed Forces Chief General Selçuk Bayraktaroğlu during his official visit to Ankara.
Field Marshal Munir was welcomed by President Erdogan at Ankara Airport. The Turkish military also arranged a formal reception ceremony for the Pakistani defence chief.
A tri-services contingent of the Turkish Armed Forces presented a guard of honour to CDF Munir upon his arrival. The ceremony reflected the close defence partnership between Pakistan and Türkiye.
Later, General Selçuk Bayraktaroğlu hosted bilateral and delegation-level meetings with Field Marshal Munir. Both sides discussed matters related to defence cooperation, regional security, and ways to further strengthen military ties between the two countries.
During the meeting, the Turkish Armed Forces chief awarded the “Turkish Armed Forces Distinguished Service Medal” to Field Marshal Asim Munir. The honour recognised his role in promoting friendly relations between the armed forces of Pakistan and Türkiye and enhancing cooperation between the two institutions.
The Turkish military said that the relationship between Pakistan and Türkiye is based on brotherhood, mutual trust, and a shared strategic vision.
Field Marshal Munir arrived in Türkiye for a two-day official visit. During his stay, he is expected to meet senior political and military leaders to discuss issues of mutual interest.
The visit highlights the growing defence cooperation between the two countries. Pakistan and Türkiye have maintained strong military relations through regular high-level exchanges, joint exercises, and institutional cooperation.
