Five killed, 13 injured as bus plunges into Ravine near Murree

MURREE: At least five people were killed and 13 others injured after a passenger bus plunged into a deep ravine near Lower Barian, Liran Tain, at the Murree-Galiyat junction.

The accident occurred when the bus reportedly went out of control while carrying more than 20 passengers. Three of the injured were said to be in critical condition.

The victims included a 65-year-old man, a 45-year-old woman and two children. Several women and children were also among those injured, with some suffering serious injuries. An injured 10-year-old girl later died while receiving treatment at the hospital.

Rescue teams recovered the injured passengers and bodies from the ravine and shifted them to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital in Murree. Those in critical condition were later referred to Benazir Bhutto General Hospital in Rawalpindi.

Passengers alleged that the crash was caused by the driver’s negligence and careless driving. The accident took place within Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s jurisdiction, while Rescue 1122 Murree also assisted in the emergency operation.

Relatives of the victims have called for a transparent investigation into the tragedy and demanded legal action against anyone found responsible for negligence.
