Five terrorists killed in Quetta police operation

QUETTA: Five suspected terrorists were killed during a police operation after unidentified armed men opened fire on a police post in the outskirts of Quetta, police said.

According to police, the incident took place in the Aghberg area, where unidentified attackers targeted a police check post with gunfire. The attack prompted an immediate response from the police personnel deployed at the post.

Police officials said their personnel returned fire and engaged the attackers in an exchange of gunfire. The confrontation continued for some time before police managed to neutralise five of the suspected terrorists.

Police said the operation was carried out after the attackers opened indiscriminate fire at the police post. The identities and affiliations of those killed have not yet been disclosed.

Following the encounter, police personnel conducted a search of the surrounding area to check for any other suspects and secure the site.

Authorities have launched further investigations into the attack to determine the identity of the attackers and establish their possible links to any militant group.

The incident comes amid continued security operations against armed groups in Balochistan, where law enforcement agencies regularly conduct operations in response to attacks targeting security personnel and public installations.
