Gilgit-Baltistan Apex Committee reviews security situation

Gilgit – A meeting of the Gilgit-Baltistan Apex Committee was held in Gilgit under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Amjad Hussain where the overall security situation in the region was reviewed in detail.

The meeting discussed the prevailing security challenges, the law and order situation and measures related to public safety. Participants stressed the need for effective and coordinated cooperation among all relevant institutions to ensure peace, stability and public safety in the region.

During the meeting, matters related to further strengthening coordination among various institutions ensuring the timely exchange of intelligence information and improving joint response mechanisms to deal with any emergency situation were also discussed.

Senior officials from the civil administration, police and security agencies attended the meeting.

Chief Minister Amjad Hussain directed the relevant departments to maintain close coordination with one another on security-related matters and ensure proactive and effective measures to maintain law and order in Gilgit-Baltistan.

According to officials, various issues concerning the security situation were discussed during the meeting. However, details of other decisions taken at the meeting were not immediately released.
