Islamabad: The government has reportedly received a green signal from the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) for the approval of the upcoming federal budget after both sides reached broad agreement on most budget-related proposals during a key meeting.
According to sources, technical committees will continue consultations on certain practical and unresolved points to finalize recommendations.
The meeting took place at the Presidency, where Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif led the government delegation and was welcomed by President Asif Ali Zardari.
Sources said the prime minister was accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, federal ministers, and senior officials from the Ministry of Finance.
On the other side, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari headed the PPP delegation. Members of the party’s budget committee were also present alongside Bilawal Bhutto and the president.
During the meeting, participants discussed the federal budget and several other important national issues. The recent situation in Azad Jammu and Kashmir also came under discussion. The Prime Minister of Azad Kashmir attended the meeting as well.
