IHC to hear plea against PTI’s September 27 protest

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) will hear today a petition challenging the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)’s planned protest and long march scheduled for September 27.

IHC Chief Justice Sarfraz Dogar will preside over the hearing of the petition, in which the petitioner has raised concerns over the proposed political activity and its potential impact on public movement and traffic in the federal capital.

The petitioner has requested the court to issue a declaration concerning the alleged political use of the Chief Minister’s Office. The petition also seeks directions to ensure that all roads in Islamabad remain open on September 27 so that residents and commuters can move freely.

The petitioner has urged the court to take measures to prevent any disruption to routine activities in the capital in connection with the PTI’s planned protest and long march.

The case comes amid preparations for the PTI’s September 27 protest, with the party expected to mobilise its supporters for the planned political activity. The proposed demonstration and long march have raised questions about traffic management, public access and the potential disruption of normal life in Islamabad.

The petition seeks judicial intervention to ensure that public roads and routes remain accessible and that citizens are not inconvenienced by the planned political gathering.

During today’s hearing, the court is expected to examine the legal grounds raised in the petition and consider the relief sought by the petitioner.
